Description/Interesting Notes: A classic, old time example of descloizite after vanadinite from Namibia!!! This specimen consists of a very large crystal of vanadinite that has been partially replaced by descloizite!!! The old time vanadinite crystals from this locality were quite large and dramatically elongated!!! This specimen is actually very well formed and showy for the occurence!!! When viewed from the bottom, one can see that these crystals have a core of deep, orange red vanadinite!!! This vanadinite shows areas of surprising gemminess upon close inspection as well!!! Classic old time material!!! This specimen is from the collection of Tony Nikischer!!! We just acquired the 6000+ specimen PERSONAL collection of Tony Nikischer and there are going to be some very exciting minerals to come in the upcoming days and weeks!!! Prior to the Nikischer collection this specimen was originally from the collection of Florence Mecke (acquired from the late 1930's until the 1970's)!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
