Description/Interesting Notes:
A unique example of a rare green diamond from Brazil!!! Colored diamonds - of any color - are quite rare and true, natural green
diamonds are exceedingly rare!!! While impurities generally cause the other colors seen in diamonds, green is only caused
by exposure to radiation!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or a scope, one can see that this specimen's green color is actually
comprised of random patches of varying color - these are actually tiny radiation "burns" caused by being in
close proximity to minute grains of naturally radioactive minerals like zircon in alluvial deposits for millions of years!!! This
specimen has a handsome green color with brilliant glassy luster and gemmy clarity!!! The crystal consists of a complex macle twin and
shows complex striations and growth features on its faces!!! Rare and unusual material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
