Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic, old time example of diaspore from this historic Massachusetts locality!!! This specimen hosts
a rich showing of crystalline diaspore in
association with magnetite and light green clinochlore!!! The diaspore
crystals are present as intergrown blades with broad, lustrous faces and light,
faint lavender-grayish color with slight translucence!!! In addition to the lustrous, broad faces of the intergrown diaspore crystals, there are
several small cavities that are loaded with sharp, complete, terminated crystals of diaspore!! Terminated crystals
of free-standing diaspore from this locality are very rare indeed!!! In person, one can see many more
crystals and futher into the vugs than the
pictures show!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope, these diaspore crystals are simply incredible!!! This
classic old time specimen retains an affixed label from A.E. Foote as well!!! Classic old time material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MAY 12th!!!
