Description/Interesting Notes:
A terrific example of dioptase on calcite from Tsumeb!!! This specimen hosts numerous emerald green dioptase crystals that
form a trail along the edge of a small calcite covered matrix and dramatically punctuate in a large single crystal at the top!!! The pics say it all,
and its even better in person!!!
Wolfgang Pohl worked in the mining industry in Namibia in the 70s and 80s and was a prolific
collector and dealer during and after this time!!! He would make trips back and forth to his
native Germany trading specimens he had acquired in Africa for worldwide specimens!!! Pohl
was rather meticulous with his labeling and record keeping with most of the specimens in the
collection having catalogue numbers, label with info on locale, source/dealer info,
acquisition date, and any other relevant notes!!! However, the most interesting feature is
that most of the labels also had a small sketch of the specimen on the reverse side as
well!!! I will be listing many exciting specimens from this collection, in addition to the
usual and far ranging array of specimens, in the upcoming weeks - so don't miss out!!!
