An intruiging example of dioptase from Tiger!!! We acquired this specimen in an old collection and it was with a group of specimens that the
collector had set aside for further investigation but, sadly, never got to them - it was labelled simply as "Dioptase & ?" from Tiger!!! This
specimen consists of a chrysocolla-like matrix that hosts several dense patches of slightly bluish dioptase crystals in addition to
an unidentified blue to blue-green species!!! The flat side of the specimen hosts dioptase crystals that are particularly complex/flattened to almost
amorphous and seem to be interspersed with some bluish green mineralization!!! The sharp, well defined crystals on the opposite side
are clearly dioptase, however they have a slightly bluish tint to them as well are in intimate association with unidentified blue mineralization as
well!!! Even more curious, is that there is a layer sandwiched in the middle
of the specimen that, under a scope, appears to be bluish opaque tangles of pseudomorphose dioptase (presumably) crystals!!! This specimen has to be
seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
