Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic example of siderite from this old time New York locality!!! This historic locality closed in 1910 and large, fine specimens such
as this are scarcely seen today!!!
This specimen hosts a striking showing of highly lustrous, amber-colored siderite crystals that exhibit a complex and showy form!!! The siderite crystals
also have marked translucence as well!!! In some areas one can discern the features of the underlying layer of dolomite crystals!!! In addition
to the siderite crystals, there are discrete, hair-like crystals of millerite scattered amongst the siderite crystals!!! There
are also numerous patches of stipnomelane crystals scattered about the matrix as well!!! This specimen
retains a label from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum with L.L. Hubbard (1849-1933)
Collection notation!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MARCH 10th!!!
