A very rare example of effenbergerite from the type locality!!! One of the most exciting new finds at the
Tucson show were these effenbergerite specimens from Wessels!!! These specimens came through Marshall Sussman
and there were just a handful available - all of which basically disappeared before the show even began!!! Fine
examples of this material are VERY rare indeed!!! However, this specimen is particularly rare and unusual - this was the ONLY example
that hosted CRYSTALLINE sugilite in addition to CRYSTALLINE effenbergerite!!! Most of the effenbergerite is seen
as massive material or, at best, microcrystalline material - however this specimen has actual, eye visible crystals of
effenbergerite!!! The sugilite crystals are present as lustrous, radiating sprays of crystals and groups of parallel crystal lathes!!!
The sugilite is much more crystalline than it appears in the pics, with significant crystals scattered all over!!! The
crystals range in size to well over 5mm!!! There are areas where it appears the crystalline sugilite and crystalline effenbergerite
are intimately intergrown!!! This is a very significant specimen indeed!!! This was the only such example of both species being present as crystals!!!
You do not want to miss out on this valuable
rare material - as it won't likely be seen again!!! In addition to being a majory rarity - these species are simply stunning in person - a combination of
intense royal purple in combination with intense royal blue accents!!! Amazing!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MARCH 1st!!!
