Gold var. Electrum with Hessite Mcalpine Mine, Coulterville, Tuolumne Co., California 8.1cm x 5.06cm x 4.15cm

Description/Interesting Notes: A fantastic example of gold var. electrum and hessite from California!!! This specimen hosts a significant showing of somewhat brassy-silvery gold var. electrum in addition to scattered masses of dark gray hessite and a very rich distribution of dark gray veins of hessite in a white quartz matrix!!! The electrum is present as a sizeable, rich mass prominently centered on the specimen however upon close examination with a loupe one can see that there are numerous tiny masses of electrum scattered all over the specimen!!! In addition to the electrum and hessite, there are several small areas of an unidentified greenish mineral present in the ochre-colored area of matrix on the reverse (as well as a few tiny areas elsewhere as well)!!! Simply a fantastic example of native gold var. electrum and rare hessite from California!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! This specimen retains an old label from Forrest Cureton as well!!!
