Description/Interesting Notes: A historic, old time example of emerald from this ancient locality!!! This specimen consists of a single crystal of emerald!!! The crystal is terminated and has lively green color and marked translucence!!! Emeralds have been prized for millenia and Egypt was once the primary source of emeralds in the ancient world!!! The emerald mines of Egypt were known to be the source of Europe's emeralds up until the middle ages!!! After other worldwide localities were discovered, Egypts emerald producing localities were almost lost to time!!! The emerald mines were "rediscovered" in the early 1800's, however production since then has been limited at best!!! Emerald specimens from Egypt are quite scarce today!!! Rare, old time material!!!
