Description/Interesting Notes:
A rich, old time example of emmonsite from New Mexico!!! This specimen consists of a matrix of quartz and fluorite
that hosts a rich showing of pyrite crystals in rich association with altaite, emmonsite, and likely other
tellurides and tellurates as well!!! The greenish emmonsite is richly distributed across the broad face of the specimen
and intergrown with some of the pyrite and altaite crystals as well!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope one
can see that this specimen hosts a rich showing of tellurides - including a significant amount of altaite (distinguishable by
its tin-white silvery color and cleavage faces)!!! Upon close examination one can see that some of the pyrite crystals
are partially altered to, or actually intergrown with, the tellurides as well!!! There is a LOT going on with this rich, old time
specimen!!! In some of the small vugs one can see subhedral crystals of unidentified tellurides as well as some groups of tiny, bladed
yellowish crystals (likely an unidentified tellurate)!!! This is OLD material!!! This specimen retains
an old museum label as well!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
