Description/Interesting Notes:
A most unusual example of enargite from Butte!!! This specimen consists of a matrix of massive enargite and pyrite that hosts numerous small
enargite crystals perched across its surface!!! What is most striking about this specimen however, is that it hosts a rare trilling twin
enargite crystal prominently perched on its face!!! This trilling exhibits amazingly sharp twinning that is very rarely seen in the species!!! The other enargite crystals
throughout the specimen exhibit complex features and there are several other complex twins as well!!! The crystals exhibit an additional
curious feature as well - most of the enargite crystals host what is believed to be tennantite on their terminations!!! Upon close examination, these
tennantite crystals have triangular features and a compressed, somewhat flattened habit!!! This specimen is simply incredible when
viewed with a loupe or scope!!! Enargite trillings are very rare indeed!!! This specimen is from the collection of A.J. Beres and retains
an antique dealer label as well (this habit is so unusual that it was labelled as bournonite? from Butte)!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MARCH 31st!!!
