An absolutely magnificent, old time example of fluorite from the Boltsburn Mine!!! This famous historic locality
actually produced crystals of such perfection that they were used in the optical industry!!! The Boltsburn Mine closed in 1931 and specimens are
quite scarce and highly sought after today!!! This specimen consists of a matrix of sharp, lustrous quartz points that host
two striking, lavender colored fluorite crystals in association with lustrous sphalerite crystals!!! The fluorite crystals are in superb condition and are complete
all around!!! The crystal faces have unique striations and brilliant glassy luster!!! The crystals have marked clarity ranging to near gemmy in areas (in fact, if you look into the gemmy
portion of the smaller crystal, you can very clearly see that there is a large, sharp sphalerite crystal included within!)!!! The crystals have
lavender color with cores of light yellow and color zoning visible on the cube edges!!! The fluorite crystals have rare, complexly modified corners as well!!! The sphalerite crystals are pristine and highly lustrous, exhibiting
near black color with occasional red highlights!!! Characteristic of the locality, these fluorite crystals are intensely fluorescent
and also exhibit marked daylight fluorescence as well!!! All in all, this specimen is a KILLER old time classic Weardale beauty with just about everything
one could ask for in a specimen!!! Simply magnificent in every way!!! The pics hardly do this valuable historic fluorite justice!!!
This specimen retains its original Wintringham collection label as well as an older unattributed label and affixed catalogue number!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
