Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare example of crystalline eucryptite from North Carolina!!! Usually, this rare species is found only as massive material embedded in
similar appearing matrix, in fact its very name means "well concealed" in Greek!!! Actual CRYSTALS of eucryptite are
very rare indeed!!! This specimen is an extraordinary example of the species - it is loaded with
prominent, well formed crystals that measure up to an impressive 3mm!!! The crystals exhibit complex forms with lustrous
faces and marked translucence!!! As is characteristic of the species, the crystals exhibit a deep
and intense red fluorescence under SW UV!!! The deep red fluorescence is much more pronounced in person (it is difficult to
capture in the pics)!!! This specimen retains an old, unattributed label noting that it was collected in 1967!!! Simply
an amazing example of this rare species!!!
