Description/Interesting Notes:
A classic combination of sphalerite and fluorite from Illinois!!! This specimen consists of a large cluster of blocky, dark
purple fluorite crystals that hosts a showy, dramatic "ball" of sphalerite crystals that is studded with bright golden crystals
of chalcopyrite and measures over 8cm!!! This large ball of spikey sphalerite crystals has brilliant, glassy luster and shows
flashes of deep amber color within!!! The sphalerite has numerous small crystals of bright, golden chalcopyrite richly scattered across
its surface which makes it particularly showy in person!!! The sphalerite is aesthetically framed by large, dark purple fluorite crystals and a
matrix that has an unusual handsome blue color!!! This specimen is quite striking in person!!! This specimen is reminiscent of similar looking
material from Elmwood, TN however I am told it is likely from the Denton Mine and that the chalcopyrite is a distinctive feature!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! This specimen is from the collection of
Tony Nikischer and retains its original personal collection label as well!!! We just acquired the 6000+ specimen
PERSONAL collection of Tony Nikischer and there are going to be some very exciting minerals to come in the upcoming
days and weeks!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY FEBRUARY 14th!!!
