A classic old time example of purple fluorite from Weardale!!! This consists of a cluster of sharp, gemmy, cubic crystals of light purple
fluorite in association with a lone calcite crystal!!! The crystals have very glassy luster and many of the crystals exhibit sharp interpenetration twinning
characteristic of the locale!!! This specimen is also highly fluorescent as well - exhibiting intense blue fluorescence under UV as well as "daylight" fluorescence that
turns the crystals a more lively purple (there are several pictures below with UV/daylight combo)!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
This specimen is from the Albert Peppis Collection and retains his original label!!! We just recently acquired the lifelong collection
of Albert Peppis, and detailed information about both him and the collection are on our
"About Me" page - so be sure to check it out!!!
