Description/Interesting Notes:
A classic, old time example of fluorite from the Heights Mine!!! These stunning deep
green fluorite crystals, with sharp interpenetration twins, set the standard for fine Weardale fluorites!!!
While these specimens are somewhat similar to the contemporary specimens from the Rogerley Mine, these specimens are much older and
are quite rare on todays market!!! The Heights Mine was a 19th century iron mine and has long since been closed!!! The only time
fine specimens are encountered is in old collections!!! This specimen consists of a gorgeous grouping of interpenetrant fluorite
crystals that exhibit characteristic deep emerald green color!!! The crystals have bright glassy luster, razor sharp faces, and
gemmy clarity!!! Upon close inspection, one can see characteristic, highly complex striations on the crystal faces as well!!! There
are some nearly invisible, quartz microcrystals scattered about in a few areas and there is also a small bit of galena on the underside as well!!!
The gemminess and color are way better than the pics show!!! There is a very thin purple phantom visible within the crystals as well!!!
Of course this specimen exhibits intense fluorescence under UV as well!!! This specimen is in fantastic condition and displays stunningly
in person!!! A killer old time Weardale classic!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY OCTOBER 11th!!!
