A terrific example of fluorite from Weardale!!! This specimen consists of a large single crystal of fluorite in association with a
partial coating of calcite and tiny balls of pyrite crystals!!! The crystal has a combination of purple and green color, consisting of a core of purple followed by a
zone of green and then an outer zone of purple!!! The color is much more defined and saturated than the pics show!!! The crystal has very glassy luster and
gemmy clarity!!! As with many Weardale fluorites, this crystal is intensely fluorescent and also exhibits marked daylight fluorescence as well!!! The calcite appears to be
partially dissolved or worn away due to natural processes (there was pocket mud in these nooks & crannies before it was cleaned and it also appears to be directional)!!! There are
numerous tiny balls of pyrite crystals scattered amongst the calcite as well!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
