An absolutely magnificent example of rhodochrosite and fluorite from Butte!!! This specimen consists of a large mound of sharp rhombs of
rhodochrosite that are selectively coated with a druze tiny fluorite crystals - a rare combination for Butte!!! The rhodochrosite crystals consist or
sharp rhombohedral crystals ranging in size up to 1.2cm!!! This specimen is covered on all sides (except for the bottom of course) with pink rhombs of
rhodochrosite that have been selectively partially coated with fluorite - resulting in a dramatically different appearance depending on which side and from which
angle you view the specimen!!! On the bottom of the specimen you can see that there is a core of crystalline quartz, some sphalerite, and pyrite, - there are also a few
tiny quartz points scattered among the fluorite as well!!! Simply a magnificent Butte classic!!! This specimen actually enjoyed a prominent setting in the main display case
at the Jenkins home!!! This specimen is from the personal collection of well known Butte collector and scholar
Bob Jenkins and retains his original collection label!!! In addition to the Jenkins label, there are labels from the Bentz Collection and Frankie Dee Hosea Collection as well as
an OLD Arkenstone label (La Jolla)!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
