Description/Interesting Notes:
A fantastic example of this rare silver-bearing species from Mexico!!! This specimen consists of a gorgeous plate of sharp, brilliant
pyrite crystals that host numerous complex pyramidal crystals of freibergite in association with bournonite and minor sphalerite!!!
Let me start by saying that this specimen is WAY, WAY better than the pictures show - this is a very striking and showy specimen in person!!! The
pyrite crystals are sharp, complex, and brilliantly metallic with a rich golden hue!!! The freibergite crystals have brilliant metallic
silver luster with dramatic blue and purple iridescence!!! The freibergite crystals exhibit sharp pyramidal forms with highly complex modifications on their
surfaces!!! Some of the freibergite crystals appear to have tiny, hollow cavities on their edges - however these are not damage but complex crystalline features!!!
There are also numerous small bournonite crystals in association with some of the freibergite crystals and in a few scattered clusters!!! Toward one
side of the specimen there is an area of sphalerite crystals that appear to have some selective coatings of chalcopyrite on their faces!!! Upon close
inspection with a loupe or scope these details are simply incredible!!! This specimen is in magnificent condition all around and is a bright and
aesthetic showpiece - for some reason it was difficult to capture in the pictures!!! This is a killer combination specimen from Zacatecas!!! This
specimen retains an antique label from David New (and carried a very significant pricetag for its time!)!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be
seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JULY 14th!!!
