Description/Interesting Notes:
An absolutely INCREDIBLE and VERY UNIQUE example of galena from Utah!!! Let me start off by saying that this IS a galena crystal despite
its very unusual form!!! Even more impressive is that it is a single crystal!!! This old time specimen
consists of a dramatically elongated, distorted cubo-octahedral crystal with a complex, sceptered feature at the termination!!! There
is a small amount of tan colored anglesite in association as well!!! From certain angles one can see minute, oriented crystal faces flash
across the whole specimen!!! On the bottom of the specimen one can clearly see the brilliant silver luster and cleavage (upon
close inspection one can see characteristic right-angled features) as well as a curious hole in the center (there are tiny
anglesite and/or cerussite crystals present in there)!!! This specimen is complete and undamaged!!! I have
never seen another galena crystal like it and doubt I ever will!!! This is not a pseudomorph but an actual
primary galena crystal!!! Simply incredible, old time material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! This specimen is from the collection
of Tony Nikischer!!! We just acquired the 6000+ specimen PERSONAL collection of Tony Nikischer and there are going to be
some very exciting minerals to come in the upcoming days and weeks!!! Prior to the Nikischer collection this specimen was
originally from the collection of Florence Mecke (acquired from the late 1930's until the 1970's)!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY FEBRUARY 7th!!!
