Description/Interesting Notes:
A unique and amazing example of galena from Peru!!! This specimen consists of a matrix of sharp quartz crystals paired with blades of
partially altered manganoan calcite that host a group of some of the most amazing galena crystals I have ever seen!!! First off, let me assure you - the
ARE galena crystals!!! The galena crystals have unbelievably brilliant metallic luster and stunningly complex, curvaceous habits unlike any I've ever seen!!!
The crystals have the MOST iridescent patine I have ever seen on ANY mineral species (and the pics don't even come close to capturing just how
intense and dramatic it is in person)!!! In addition, the galena crystals
actually host numerous intergrown crystals of sharply pyramidal tetrahedrite - you can see them studding the surfaces of several of the crystals!!!
There is a lone tetrahedrite crystal tucked underneath one of the galena crystals as well as a few tiny pyrite crystals as well!!! On the underside
of the specimen you can see a broad section of cleaved galena that exhibits similar iridescence as well!!! This specimen is AMAZING in person!!!
Yes - it IS galena!!! The pics don't even come close to doing it justice!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY OCTOBER 28th!!!
