Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare, old time example of galena from this classic New York locale!!! This specimen consists of a cluster of sharp, gemmy
quartz crystals that hosts a rich showing of sharp, cubo-octahedral galena crystals in association with a few scattered
crystals of chalcopyrite!!! There also appears to be a few scattered dolomite crystals present among the quartz crystals as well as
scattered across the reverse of the specimen!!! The galena crystals have a handsome silvery-gray metallic luster and complexly modified
forms!!! The characteristic chalcopyrite crystals exhibit brassy-golden metallic luster!!! Additionally, there are
numerous gemmy quartz crystals that host sparkling galena inclusions within them!!! This historic locality is well
known for its chalcopyrite and quartz combos, but examples of galena from this locality are very scarce indeed (I am told this is VERY old material)!!!
This specimen is from the collections of noted New England collector Ken Hollman as well as Fred Parker!!! Don't miss out on this
rare and historic old timer!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MARCH 15th!!!
