This is easily one of the most amazing creedite specimens I have seen in quite some time! This unique old-timer was originally obtained by Otto Ray in 1967. This specimen's provenance is somewhat interesting, in terms of its locale and its role in Bolivia's mining history. As some of you may already know, this was the site of the famous "Massacre of Catavi" in 1942, where rebellious miners were gunned down. Any of you who are familiar with Bolivia's history know that the last century has been a remarkably tumultuous one, due in no small part to its mineral riches. Aside from this specimen's locale, it is remarkable in several other ways as well. This specimen hosts crystals that are unusually thick and chunky, compared to the majority of specimens seen from the other much more common locales that are available in abundance these days. The crystals range in size up to .7" long, and .4" wide. The crystals are colorless and glassy, and the specimen is comprised almost entirely of creedite. A truly significant specimen indeed!
