An extraordinary example of this rare species from a classic locale and historic collection. This marvelous specimen consists of numerous rich green, blocky crystals of euchroite, accompanied by numerous small needles of olive green olivenite both included in and on the surface of the euchroite crystals!!! These euchroite crystals are very well formed and defined for the species and locale. The crystals have terrific luster and significant translucence that is even more dramatic in person, although if you look closely at the pics you can get the idea. Aside from being a superb, high-quality old time euchroite specimen from Libethen, the association with olivenite is what places this specimen in a class all its own. This exquisite specimen is way better than the very few euchroite specimens I have seen in the past few years of this rare species, and all of those substandard specimens had ridiculous price tags - and none of those were associated with olivenite!!! This specimen is from the famous and long since closed Bally Mineral Museum in Switzerland. The museum was founded by footware magnate E. Bally Prior (1847-1920) in 1910.
