Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare example of chalcocite with gallite and germanite from Tsumeb!!! This specimen consists of a rich mass of gallite and germanite ore that
hosts some small, sharp, black crystals of chalcocite!!! Originally this specimen came from the well-known Innes collection to Bill Pinch and the small
black crystals were labelled as unknowns!!! They were subsequently found to be chalcocite - and very fine ones at that!!! Interestingly, there are
some tan colored microcrystals in association that are still unidentified!!! The specimen has been polished to a brilliant mirror finish on the bottom to expose and
display the rare gallite and germanite ore - as well as allow for analytical confirmation!!! Although it is difficult to appreciate in the pics, the
chalcocite crystal is eye visible and prominently centered on the specimen in the very first picture - the crystal measurses approximately 2mm!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Specimen retains Pinch label with Innes notation as well a copy of analysis!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JANUARY 6th!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
