Description/Interesting Notes: A rare, old time example of grossular from a seldom referenced Mexican locality!!! This specimen hosts an incredible grossular crystal in association with yellow-green vesuvianite!!! While only a partial crystal, this locality rarely produces anything more than massive material!!! However, what is most striking about this specimen is the COLOR!!! It is unlike any other garnet I have ever seen!!! Even these pictures don't capture just how intense it is in person!!! The color is singularly unique for a garnet!!! The pics don't even come close!!! This specimen retains its original Wintringham collection label and also has an unattributed, old-style affixed enamel catalogue number!!!
