Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare example of germanite from the type locality, Tsumeb!!! This specimen exhibits a significant showing of
massive germanite in association with quartz, massive cerussite, cuprite, chalcocite, minor sphalerite, and possibly other unidentified species!!!
The broad face of this specimen hosts a significant showing of metallic, pinkish maroon hued germanite!!! One can
see significant, rich areas of germanite all around the specimen!!! In addition to the germanite there are
areas of massive cuprite and chalcocite as well as some tiny areas of sphalerite as well!!! Upon close inspection, there
are some tiny, submillimeter crystals of an unidentified mineral tucked in small vugs!!! One small crystal appears to exhibit
tetrahedral form, while others are somewhat complex!!! There are some other very interesting features to be seen upon
close inspection with a loupe or scope (perhaps worthy of analysis?)!!!
This specimen came from the collection of Thomas J. Campbell, Co-author of the "Encyclopedia of Minerals"!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY AUGUST 2nd!!!
