Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent, old time example of selenite after glauberite from Arizona!!! While the calcite pseudomorphs after glauberite from Camp Verde
are well known and somewhat common - these old time selenite after glauberite pseudomorphs are quite scarce by comparison!!! This specimen consists of a large, floater
cluster of glauberite crystals that have been completely replaced by selenite!!! This specimen hosts unusually large crystals - with the largest
crystal measuring over 4.5cm!!! What struck me about this specimen is that many of the crystals exhibit an exageratted "wing" of gypsum - only on specific, selective
edges!!! The overall effect gives the specimen a unique appearance in person - depending on the angle it is viewed at it is almost like a pinwheel!!! This specimen is
quite striking and showy in person - the pics don't even come close to doing it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! This specimen
is from the collection of A.J. Beres!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
