Description/Interesting Notes:
An unusual example of native gold from this rare locale!!! This specimen consists of a dense mass of fine serpentine-like
matrix that hosts numerous small grains of native gold embedded throughout as well as a mineral labelled as "unknown #1"!!!
The matrix has an attractive tan to green color with areas of translucence (upon close inspection one can see areas of native gold
below the surface)!!! The specimen has been cut and polished on one side as well as gently buffed to show the other areas of native gold -
although there are some naturally exposed areas of native gold as well!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or a scope, one can
find some small, submillimeter crystals of an unidentified orange mineral (presumably the Unknown #1 referenced by the label)!!! Although
it is difficult to appreciate from the pics, these minute crystals have marked luster and translucence (the almost resemble crocoite crystals -
superficially speaking)!!! The matrix is soft, easily carvable material and more areas of native gold could be excavated if
so desired!!! Rare old time material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! This specimen is from the collection
of Tony Nikischer and retains its original personal collection label as well!!! We just acquired the 6000+ specimen PERSONAL collection
of Tony Nikischer and there are going to be some very exciting minerals to come in the upcoming days and weeks!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JANUARY 31st!!!
