Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent, rare locality example of native gold from New Hampshire!!!
This specimen consists of a highly complex group of native gold crystals!!! The crystal has
rich yellow color and lively metallic luster!!! The crystals are very sharply defined and
simply amazing upon close examination!!! Specimens from this old time locality are quite
scarce indeed - and crystalline examples exponentially so!!! While this region is better
known for its alluvial gold specimens (that are still quite scarce) this region, once known
as the Ammonoosuc Gold Fields, contained a number of hard rock gold mines that were started
just after the California gold rush - when this region experienced a small, short-lived
gold rush of its own!!! Today, there are still some remnants and entrances to these mines
can still be found - although most have been long sealed off and are far off the beaten path!!!
This specimen is the last of group of just four specimens that originally came from Forrest Cureton
(a copy of the label will be provided of course)!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY MARCH 24th!!!
