A rare, old time example of native gold var. electrum from this famed historic locality!!! This specimen consists of a matrix of
quartz and sphalerite that hosts numerous complex, intergrown pyrite crystals as well as intergrown acanthite and galena!!! Among this
complex combination of minerals are several areas of native gold var. electrum (silver-rich gold)!!! The pyrite has a bright brassy metallic
color and the native gold var. electrum stands out in that it has a much more golden hue!!! Upon close examination with a loupe or scope one
can find a numerous additional areas of electrum distributed throughout the specimen!!! This is rare, old time material -
specimens from this area are very scarce indeed!!! This specimen was actually part of a
larger specimen we recently sold (digital copies of that specimen's old label and details will be provided to winner upon request)!!! The
pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
