Ex. A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum, Michigan Technological University
Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare, old time example of native gold from Nevada!!! This specimen hosts a very rich vein of buttery yellow native gold in association with
unidentified silvery tellurides!!!! The rich vein runs throughout the entite specimen and is prominently exposed on every side!!! Two sides of the
specimen have been cut and lightly polished to further highlight just how rich and significant the specimen is!!! The broad side of the specimen hosts a
complex network of tellurides and areas of native gold poking their way through the face of the specimen!!! Upon close examination there are a number of curious features
including crystalline forms and curious botryoidal formations!!! There appear to be two distinctly different tellurides in association - with each having
distinctively diffent silvery hues (most visible on the polished sides)!!!
Old time examples of native gold from Nevada's heyday are very scarce indeed - and this is a magnificent specimen
with terrific provenance as well!!! This specimen retains an old Seaman Museum label with Koenig notation!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be
fully appreciated!!!!
