Description/Interesting Notes:
A very rare old time example of native gold with tetradymite from this historic New Mexico locale!!! This specimen consists of a cut
and polished mass of rich native gold ore!!! This specimen hosts a very rich showing of native gold in association
with small areas of silvery tetradymite!!! There are several particularly large masses of solid native gold in a handsome, darkly
colored, contrasting matrix!!! One can see a significant showing of rich, buttery yellow native gold on several sides of the specimen
as well as numerous tiny areas of silvery metallic tetradymite in association!!! Specimens from this old, 19th century
locality are extremely scarce and this is a magnificent specimen indeed!!! The Aztec mine was initially opened in 1868 and in four short
years produced nearly one million dollars in gold!!! This specimen retains an old label that dates the specimens acquisition to 1919!!!
Rare old time material!!! Very showy in person!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY AUGUST 30th!!!
