Description/Interesting Notes: A rich, old time example of native gold from this seldom referenced California locale!!! This specimen consists of a quartz matrix that is VERY richly intergrown with native gold!!! The specimen consists of a mass of richly intergrown native gold and quartz in association with a mass of ochre colored matrix!!! Aside from this ochre colored mass, virtually ALL of the golden colored material you see in the pics is native gold!!! A section of this specimen has been cut and polished to further show just how incredibly rich it is!!! The native gold is both included throughout the quartz as well as protruding from it in rough, rigid masses!!! This is really quite remarkable material indeed!!! The quartz is somewhat translucent and the ochre colore matrix is very hard and rigid (although it almost looks like clay at first glance)!!! This is OLD material!!! Specimen retains an unattributed handscripted label as well!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
