Native Gold with Quartz Homestake Mine, Lead District, Lawrence Co., South Dakota 3.55cm x 3.05cm x 2.2cm

Description/Interesting Notes: An old time example of native gold from this classic South Dakota locale!!! This specimen hosts several eye visible areas of native gold in association with characteristic, darkly colored schist and massive quartz matrix!!! The native gold is present as thin, sheet like masses intergrown with the darkly colored schist as well as a tiny, crystalline mass embedded in the quartz!!! There is a small amount of pyrite present as well - including one crystal that appears to be almost encapsulated by the native gold!!! Classic material!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
