Native Gold with Arsenopyrite & Quartz
West Lake Mine, Mt. Uniacke, Hants Co., Nova Scotia, Canada
6.56cm x 2.54cm x 2cm
Ex. Florence Mecke Collection
Ex. Tony Nikischer Collection
Description/Interesting Notes:
A terrific, old time example of native gold from this seldom referenced Canadian locale!!! This
specimen hosts a rich showing of brilliantly metallic native gold in association
with arsenopyrite!!! The native gold is present as highly complex crystalline forms protruding from the matrix as well
as masses and veins included within the matrix!!! The arsenopyrite is present as complex crystals partially
embedded within the matrix!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope one can actually see that the native gold
actually envelopes some complex crystals of arsenopyrite!!! One can also see that the
native gold has highly complex crystalline features with mirror brilliant luster!!! This specimen is simply
amazing upon close study!!! This specimen is from the collection of Tony Nikischer!!! We just acquired the 6000+ specimen PERSONAL collection of Tony Nikischer and there
are going to be some very exciting minerals to come in the upcoming days and weeks!!! Prior to the Nikischer collection
this specimen was originally from the collection of Florence Mecke (acquired from the late 1930's until the 1970's)!!! Old material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
