Native Gold with Pyrite & Bornite Cole Mine (Cole shaft), Bisbee, Warren District, Mule Mts, Cochise Co., Arizona 5.5cm x 4.37cm x 1.84cm Ex. J. Cilen Collection No. 6403h

Description/Interesting Notes: A very rare example of native gold from Bisbee!!! This specimen consists of an elongated vug that hosts a significant showing of spongiform native gold in association with numerous complex crystals of pyrite and bornite!!! There is a significant mass of spongiform native gold prominently perched among the pyrite-bornite crystals and there is a significant distribution of spongiform gold throughout the vug itself!!! Upon close inspection, there are small masses of gold to be found throughout the lighter colored material present all along the vug!!! There appears to be some significant alteration among the pyrite-bornite crystals and there may be some other sulphide species and pseudomorphis present as well!!! Examples of native gold from Bisbee are extremely rare indeed, and this is a fantastic example indeed!!! This specimen retains an old label from the Cilen collection as well!!!
