Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare, old time example of native gold and chlorargyrite from Tombstone!!! This specimen hosts a rich showing of dark grayish to translucent yellow-green
chlorargyrite in association with numerous sheet-like masses of buttery yellow native gold!!! The chlorargyrite is present as "horn silver"-like crusts and amorphous forms as well as
complex but well crystallized translucent yellowish green forms!!! Much of the gold that was mined in Tombstone was found in association with
chlorargyrite - this is CLASSIC Tombstone material!!! There is more gold present than it appears in the pictures, as it is often intimately folded into the chlorargyrite crystals and
masses!!! There are areas of native gold to be found throughout the specimen!!! This specimen retains an old label from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum with Elton W. Walker
collection notation!!! This is a magnificent Tombstone old timer indeed!!! Specimens like this are very rarely seen today!!! (The old label is partially disintegrated, however it does list an exact mine location that is not entirely legible - I am currently
researching the matter and will post an update with the detailed mine information when I find out!!!)
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY DECEMBER 9th!!!
