Description/Interesting Notes:
This is a huge... HUGE example of native gold and tellurides from this classic Canadian locality!!! This specimen weighs over 6 Kg
(13.5 lbs) and measures over 35cm!!! This giant specimen consists of a quartz vein that is richly included with tellurides, sulphides, and native gold!!!
The quartz vein hosts numerous networks and veins of multi-colored metallic tellurides & sulphides and rich yellow native gold throughout!!! On top of the quartz vein it this specimen
shows a large surface of telluride "slickenside" that shows a metallic brilliance due to the presence of tellurides!!! There are some accents of gold
that can be seen among the slickenside material as well!!! The tellurides certainly include altaite and it is quite possible that calaverite, sylvanite, hessite, and others
may be present as well!!! There is pyrite, chalcopyrite, and possibly pyrrhotite in association as well!!! Essentially, the brownish-golden and darkly colored
veins seen running through the white quartz hosts significant, eye-visible portions of native gold scattered throughout!!! This specimen retains a label
from the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum with notation that it came from the colleciton of M.W. Hotchkin!!! This is a very valuable specimen not just for its
gold content, but it could easily produce a great number of telluride/gold specimens if so desired!!! You will never
seen anyone else on ebay listing such a specimen!!! Keep in mind that there will be added shipping considering the added weight of the specimen!!! Don't miss out
on this rare opportunity!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY DECEMBER 9th!!!
