Description/Interesting Notes: A fantastic example of native gold from this classic locality!!! This specimen consists of a portion of quartz matrix that hosts a remarkable single crystal of native gold!!! The crystal is sharp, complete, and undamaged!!! Upon close inspection one can see that the faces are very sharp and that there are either some complex modifications or there is some possible interpenetrant twinning!!! In either case, it is a magnificent crystal indeed!!! Upon close examination with a loupe or scope, one can see where the crystal is included within the quartz as well!!! This specimen is from the collection of Dr. F.P. D'Esopo and retains his original label (with Bill Pinch acquisition note) as well!!! Dr. D'Esopo was a friend and protege of Bill Pinch (from whom he acquired many of his specimens) and under his tutelage amassed a truly significant species collection of impressive breadth and quality!!!
