Description/Interesting Notes: A terrific old time example of native gold from California!!! This specimen hosts a significant showing of native gold on quartz matrix!!! Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope, one can see that the native gold is actually crystalline - with highly complex, compressed crystalline features!!! The native gold has a rich hue with areas of slightly reddish iridescent patina!!! Upon close inspection, one can also see that there are some tiny crystals of brassy marcasite in association as well!!! This specimen retains an old label that indicates it was mined in 1920!!!
