Native Gold with Sphalerite, Chalcopyrite, & Quartz

7850 stope, 4 1/4 level, Hematite ore shoot, Camp Bird Mine, Ouray, Sneffels District, Ouray Co., Colorado

8.74cm x 5.14cm x 8.74cm

Description/Interesting Notes:

A terrific example of native gold from Colorado!!! This specimen hosts a network of native gold in association with sphalerite and chalcopyrite in a quartz matrix!!! This specimen has been cut and polished to show its rich gold content within!!! While the areas of chalcopyrite exhibit a golden metallic color, the fine networks of native gold inclusions have a distinctly different, more pronounced metallic brilliance and golden color!!! There are several dense patches of tiny golden inclusions as well as scattered grains throughout!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED SATURDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 5-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY JULY 21st!!!
