Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent example of native gold and hessite from California!!! This specimen hosts a rich combination of
native gold with hessite, petzite, and chlorargyrite on and included within the quartz matrix!!! One face of the specimen
hosts a significent showing of native gold in close association with dark brownish-gray chlorargyrite while the hessite and petzite
are concentrated throughout a rich network of dark grayish veins throughout the quartz matrix!!! Most impressively, there are
significant crystalline masses of hessite and petzite present as well!!! Upon close examination with a loupe or scope one can
see a clear distinction between the two species with much of the petzite having a significant bluish iridescence as well!!!
There are a few cavities in the matrix that appear to host some minor amounts of an unidentified light green mineral (perhaps one of the
areas tellurates)!!! This is a magnificent combination specimen from this rare locality - there is a LOT going on here, the pics
don't even come close to doing it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
