Description/Interesting Notes:
A unique old time example of native silver from Idaho!!! This specimen retains an old Museum label noting its description
of "Gold & Silver" however, while
the siver is abundant throughout, the native gold is present only as minute portions visible only with close inspection - which makes me wonder if
the material is possibly electrum (a gold & silver mixture) due to its unique yellowish hue!!! Regardless, it is an incredible specimen even if it
were just native silver!!! This specimen hosts a complex group of acanthite crystals that are partially replaced by native silver (with gold?)!!! These
crystals are all squeezed into recesses in the crytalline matrix, resulting in all manner of complex, angular features throughout!!! There are also
other sulphide species in association as well, like some pyrite and possibly other species in minor proportions!!! There is a LOT going on with this
rare and rich old timer and the pics don't even come close to doing it justice!!! This specimen retains an old lable from the Seaman Museum along
with Robbe collection notation!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
