Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare, old time example of greenockite from the type locale in Scotland!!! This
specimen hosts a single, complex crystal of intense yellow greenockite on a characteristic prehnite matrix!!!
Upon close inspection with a loupe or scope one can see lustrous crystal faces and well defined crystalline
features!!! These historic specimens were discovered
in 1840 while cutting a railroad on the property of Lord Greenock, for whom the species is named!!!
These specimens are quite scarce today!!! Rare historic material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! This specimen is from the
collection of Tony Nikischer!!! We just acquired the 6000+ specimen PERSONAL collection of Tony Nikischer and
there are going to be some very exciting minerals to come in the upcoming days and weeks!!! Prior to the Nikischer
collection this specimen was originally from the collection of Florence Mecke (acquired from the late 1930's until the 1970's)!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
