Description/Interesting Notes:
An unusual old time example of greenockite and sphalerite from Franklin!!! This specimen consists of large, solid portion of
darkly colored sphalerite that hosts a rich showing of yellow to orange greenockite!!! The greenockite is present as colorful crusts and
masses within the sphalerite!!! Curiously, there appear to be some prismatic crystals within the sphalerite that show various levels of decomposition/alteration
to greenockite!!! You will notice diamond-shaped cross sections of crystals in some of the pictures and, in some cases, these diamond-shaped areas are instead
filled with greenockite!!! There is an area where a prism face is also exposed and the crystals appear to be prismatic arsenopyrite crystals!!!
This specimen is from the Albert Peppis Collection and retains his original label!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
