A superb example of this rare and colorful uranium-bearing assemblage from
New Hampshire!!! Gummite is the term given for a variable assortment of boltwoodite,
clarkeite, curite, kasolite, soddyite, uraninite, and uranophane!!! This specimen
consists of a very rich assemblage of gummite with bright, intense colors ranging from
lemon yellow to deep pumpkin orange accented by jet-black uraninite!!! In addition to the gummite,
there are numerous sharp and well-formed crystals of cyrtolite zircon!!! The specimen is comprised almost entirely of gummite, weighing a hefty 486 grams!!!
However, what is most striking about this incredible specimen is that it is perfectly encased in a well-formed book of muscovite crystals!!! It
appears as though a huge mass of gummite has infiltrated and is slowly "exploding" the muscovite book!!! It was nearly impossible to capture in the pictures,
but this specimen is easily the MOST incredible, unique, and aesthetic Ruggles mine specimen I have seen!!! This specimen displays incredibly
from every side!!! From the front, it presents a broad and stunning display of solid gummite - however, it soon becomes apparent that it is MUCH more than an amorphous mass of gummite!!! The
range of colors trapped within the muscovite is incredible in person!!! This specimen was one of the best specimens in the Ruggles Suite
of the Peppis Collection - who was one of its foremost field collectors!!! The pics hardly do it justice!!!
This specimen is from the Albert Peppis Collection -
