Description/Interesting Notes:
A magnificent and rich, old time example of gummite and zircon from New Hampshire!!! This specimen consists of a very rich showing of
colorful multihued orange and yellow gummite, massive black uraninite, and numerous cyrtolite zircon crystals to over 1.2cm - some of which are altering to gummite and
some are even completely altered to gummite - all in a matrix of massive pale greenish gray apatite and muscovite!!! What makes this specimen so exciting is that, upon close examination there
are numerous examples of gummite pseudomorphs after cyrtolite zircon!!!
There are also numerous examples of zircon crystals being in various stages of alteration!!!
This is one of the most incredible examples I have seen!!! It was difficult to capture in the pictures and please know that this is an intensely colorful specimen - all of the
yellow coloration is fluorescent yellow in person!!! Gummite is a complex mixture of various uranium-bearing species,
particularly Boltwoodite, Clarkeite, Curite, Kasolite, Soddyite, Uraninite, Uranophane!!! This specimen is quite dense and heavy for its size!!!
The pictures don't even come close to doing this incredible and unique rare specimen justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!! This specimen
retains an old label from the D'Esopo collection, as well as an older unattributed label!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
