Description/Interesting Notes:
A superb example of hackmanite from Mont St. Hilaire!!! This specimen hosts a rich portion of intensely colored hackmanite on matrix!!! The hackmanite
exhibits INCREDIBLE PURPLE COLOR!!! This specimen was from a one time find in 1985 that produced some of the finest, most intensely colored hackmanite known!!! This specimen exhibits some
extraordinary characteristics - for starters, it fluoresces orange under LW UV and a multi-hued white, blue, & purplish under SW UV - then, if you remove the UV light source, the specimen shows dramatic
phosphorescence, yes, it GLOWS in the dark (brightly and for some time, too)!!! Now, if that wasn't enough, this specimen
displays the most dramatic tenebrescence (color change AFTER exposure to UV rays) I have ever seen!!! There are a few
pictures below that show the specimen as a light pink in color, these pics were taken after the specimen was in a dark drawer for over a year, immediately upon exposure to sunlight it started getting more and more purple, however after
I hit it with the UV it turned DEEP VIOLET PURPLE!!! Once the specimen turns purple from exposure to UV rays it stays that way for a long time!!! This specimen was
actually in Mandy's collection for a time because she enjoyed showing all the dramatic characteristics to guests (it has some real "wow" factor)!!! This specimen is WAY
better than the pictures show too!!! Although there are no crystals, the material is crystalline all around and has some significant translucence as well!!! The color
is much more violet purple than the pics show!!! There are several other unidentified species in association as well!!! This
specimen was in the personal collection of Bob Jenkins and retains his original collection label as well!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!!
