Description/Interesting Notes:
A rare, old time example of hemimorphite and hydrohetaerolite from Leadville!!! This specimen consists of a a rich showing of
lustrous, colorless crystals of hemimorphite in association with darkly colored botryoidal hydrohetaerolite!!! Leadville is the
type locality for hydrohetaerolite!!! The hemimorphite crystals are much more three dimensional and aesthetic than the pictures show!!! The
crystals are sharp, lustrous, and significantly sized - with sprays of crystals jutting out prominently from the matrix!!! It is difficult to
tell just how good and showy this specimen is from the pictures (partially because the crystals are colorless!), however it
is quite handsome in person!!! The hydrohetaerolite comprises the majority of the matrix and is present as darkly colored botryoidal forms, as
well as small, isolated botryoids scattered among the hemimorphite crystals!!! This specimen is from the University of Delaware Mineralogical Museum and
retains an old label from the collection of H.C. Van Tassel as well!!! Rare old time material!!!
The pics hardly do it justice!!! Must be seen in person to be fully appreciated!!!
Good luck and be sure to check out my other exciting mineral auctions on ebay!!! STAY TUNED!!! MORE AUCTIONS WILL BE ADDED MONDAY NIGHT FOR A SPECIAL 3-DAY AUCTION, ENDING THURSDAY APRIL 12th!!!
